Area Police
Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a release.
Officers state they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then found multiple other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police state initial examinations show the fluid was probably human blood.
"There is still no clue as to where it came from; investigators are presently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were working "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the community for information.
An important political figure commented the attack left him without words and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the killing of nine victims by a assailant aiming at residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
